what’s UP?

WFH

As yet unsure about what to make of our current landscape, given the complications presented by the COVID-19 crisis, Le Space will be closed to the public. We will be thinking of ways to reach out virtually with our community and move our functions online, exploring ways to connect via ideas around beauty, narrative and the way we live.

GARETH PHILLIPS

Proud to present our third Artist-In-Residence, Gareth Phillips.

Gareth is an award-winning photographer of long-form documentary work, based between the UK and India. His projects are deeply personal and inhabit spaces of intimate tension, often using the natural geography of the deep woods and cascading mountain sides that he seeks out in his practice, as metaphor for his interior, emotional landscape.

Photo 2021

February 18th - March 7th, 2021

PHOTO is a major new international festival of photography that will activate Melbourne and sites across Regional Victoria with the most inspiring photography from Australia and around the world.

Taking place every two years, the festival addresses the major issues of our time in a program of free exhibitions, outdoor displays and artist commissions across the city, as well as talks, film screenings, masterclasses, education programs and awards. Presenting ideas critical to contemporary photographic discourse, PHOTO encourages the public to engage with and think about photography and visual culture in new and inspiring ways.

Le Space will be participating in the PHOTO program with two major Australian debuts by award-winning Magnum photographers, Nanna Heitmann with “Hiding From Baba Yaga” and Sim Chi Yin with “Most People Were Silent”.
